Joshua Urben is an award-winning screen and concert composer based in London, UK. He is a title holder of the NCEM BBC Young Composer of the Year award as well as having won best score at the Royal Television Society Student Television awards and other accolades at film festivals around the UK.
​
Joshua is currently a composer on the Royal Scottish National Orchestra's competitive film composers lab 2022-2023 in collaboration with Edinburgh International Film Festival. He Is currently receiving tutelage from John Lunn (Downtown Abbey, Last Kingdom, Shetland) and working with the RSNO on writing and recording works to film, which will receive a premiere at Edinburgh's International Film Festival 2023.

Whilst studying his undergraduate degree in composition at the Royal Northern College of Music, concert and media compositions were performed by ensembles such as the BBC Singers, RNCM Symphony Orchestra, Psappha Ensemble, Juice Vocal Ensemble, Dunedin Consort to only name a few. Durin has previously received compositional masterclasses from the likes of Judith Weir MBE, Errollyn Wallen, Brains and Hunch as well as premiered works on BBC Radio 3 from the Dunedin Consort and TV broadcasts on the network, ITV.
Josh is currently studying his MA in composition for screen at the Royal College of Music in London, UK under the tutelage of Filip Šijanec.
